CBSE XII Results 2009: Girls Outshine Boys

Girls have once again outperformed boys in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII board exams, the results of which were declared on Friday in the three zones of Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad.

Surprisingly this year there are two CBSE topper’s of class XII - one from Faridabad and another from Mumbai. Tannvi Aggrawal from Apeejay School (Faridabad) and Mritika Sen, of Rajhans Vidyalaya Andheri (Mumbai) emerged CBSE toppers in class XII. Both the CBSE topper’s share the top honors by securing 98.4 percent marks in the Class XII exam. They have scored an aggregate of 492 marks out of 500.
Tannvi Aggrawal is a Commerce student while Mritika Sen is from Science stream, the CBSE said. Anuj Goel, of Delhi (Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya) has secured the first position in the state with 96.6. Of six regions in India, Chennai has topped with the highest pass percentage i.e. 92.06, followed by Ajmer. Delhi has scored fifth position.
The pass percentage of girls was 85.94 per cent, as compared to 77.40 per cent for boys, the CBSE spokesperson said. The overall pass percentage recorded a marginal 0.09 per cent increase from last year. The pass percentage this year was 81 per cent.
The results, which were uploaded in the board's website www.cbse.nic.in, were declared for the three zones at 1000 hrs IST. In the Ajmer, Chennai and Panchkula regions, the CBSE results had been declared on Wednesday. The overall pass per centage was the highest in the Chennai region - 92.06 per cent.
